Happy Canada Day everyone.

while I enjoy living in this country and am proud to say I am Canadian, I think it is important to recognize a country for what it is and what it is not. Canada is not a mosaic full of unoppressed multiculturalism, yet still a country that governs with systemic racism, sexist, classism (etc) and continues, unapologetic, to do so.

we cannot go back from what we have done, but as a country that strives to be great we need to recognize, at least recognize, our history and its colonial past and put forth an effort to support and provide support to communities, identities and individuals in need.

so happy canada day, celebrate as you will, but remember what has gone on in this land that lends its hand to ones celebrating with beer and a red and white flag.
